In short —

The cost of a complex stack

Having a complex event tech stack has its benefits — but it can become a serious challenge when you need to make big changes across an entire event portfolio. That was the position Incisive Media found itself in by 2019.

Incisive Media is an award-winning B2B information and events business running 150 events annually across the finance, technology, and sustainability sectors. From C-level dinners to B2B festival-style events, the company prides itself on digital innovation and putting business insight in the hands of professionals around the globe.

The decision to consolidate

In 2019, Incisive Media decided to scale its event tech stack down to a single supplier — with the dual goals of improving user experience and finding a partner who could develop at the pace of a fast-growing business.

During the RFP process, several things made Evessio the standout choice: openness to development, transparency with the development schedule, industry understanding, and being UK-based with international support — which made the onboarding process tightly collaborative.

"When looking for a new approach to our event tech stack, the overarching goal was to find a technology partner who could create the next-level delegate and customer experience our various stakeholders had with our business."

Then came 2020

Up until February 2020, Incisive Media's portfolio was split roughly 50/50 between awards and conferences. As the world changed, the team had to adapt fast — and the consolidation decision turned out to have been remarkably well-timed.

Evessio gave Incisive Media's marketing teams the tools to launch new events from start to finish — empowering them to focus on content and programmes rather than logistics. The result: fantastic engagement during digital conferences, with an average dwell time of up to four hours.

Why this matters

Sometimes the right move arrives just in time.

Incisive Media's 2019 consolidation decision wasn't made for a pandemic — but it absorbed one effortlessly. The right platform earns its keep when conditions change suddenly.

Straight from the room

Words from the team behind the decision.

With hindsight, I'm so pleased that we made the decision to change when we did.

Having a single event technology service provider in place has been a lifesaver.

Evessio felt the same pressures event organisers did — and built around them.

Digital events have been part of Incisive Media's DNA since 2013.

Looking forward

Anything can change, but the team is hopeful and optimistic for the future of events. Hybrid-style events serving delegates both at a live event and via the digital platform are very much on the roadmap. 2020 proved that Incisive Media's digital events can deliver on content; the next focus is improving experience in the physical environment and strengthening networking at live events.
