JPI Media grow their business by 20% in a single year.
When one of the UK’s biggest regional publishing companies set out to streamline their business processes, event technology software provider Evessio was on-hand to help transform their event operations.
In 2019, JPI Media, whose flagship titles include the likes of The Scotsman and The Yorkshire Post, had identified a need to improve time efficiency across their events organisation. With over 60 events across the UK, their events teams were undertaking a number of day-to-day labour-intensive activities many of which could be eliminated with the right technology.
Three event software companies were invited to pitch and Evessio was selected as the solution to answer JPI Media’s needs.
This was a new cost for the business and with it came an appetite for success and expectation for results. In addition, some events teams had reservations about changing their established planning practices. Would taking their awards submissions online become a barrier for entries? Would the judges, who were used to receiving hard copy entries through the post, appreciate the new approach?
As soon as Evessio came on board, these fears were very quickly quashed. In under one month, the JPI Media event teams were fully trained and using the software with 30 events launched onto the platform.
“From the very beginning, the team at Evessio went above and beyond to ensure our staff were trained and maximising the software” said Vairi Smith, Group Events Director at JPI Media.
“Our primary priority was to streamline our business processes and improve efficiencies. Working with Evessio has been fantastic and the support they gave our team was second-to-none.”
Outside of the JPI Media the new software quickly became a hit with the other event stakeholders.
Feedback from the judges was extremely positive who loved how much better for the environment Evessio’s software was in place of the paper awards review process. They also enjoyed the flexibility it afforded them; being able to review entries on any device and in any location.
In terms of entry submissions JPI Media event teams have experienced a zero drop in nomination levels and in fact have been able to capture more data and successfully use this for remarketing campaigns.
Following the success of the implementation on easing business processes, JPI Media has also trialled the software across their two large exhibitions using the Evessio platform to communicate with and collect vital pre-event information from exhibitors and stakeholders such as risk assessment forms.
Smith commented: “I’m thrilled with how much of a positive impact the Evessio software has had on our business. By giving teams back vital time that they had previously spent on administrative tasks, they have been able to spend more time on developing and launching new events which lead to us growing our business by 20% in a single year.
“When it came to resign the contract for 2020, eight out of eight event teams in our business voted in favour of keeping Evessio demonstrating not only how much value they brought to our processes, but also how popular the software is with the events professionals within our organisation.”
Thomas Howie, Evessio’s Chief Operations Officer added: “Being part of the JPI Media business transformation has been a joy. The events teams are incredibly passionate about their industries and the work they do and have been fully engaged in implementing our software across their events portfolio.”
“Working with Evessio has not only got our teams more engaged but has dramatically saved time which is now being used to work on developing and launching new events which continue to grow our business. Evessio has gone over and above to support our teams and help us maximise the software for our business. When it came to resign the contract for 2020, eight out of eight event teams in our business voted in favour of keeping Evessio demonstrating not only how much value they brought to our processes, but also how popular the software is with the events professionals within our organisation.”
